Reflections of today's meeting

It's always a great time when we get together. "Great" is not always full of laughter, sometimes "great" also includes some tears, but nevertheless meeting together is a blessing.
On this first blog, it is my hope to dedicate this means of communication to the women who bear the weight of leading their households by themselves. I hope that this blog will become a pathway for encouragement as well as a means of communication.
Today I was struck by the variety of life experiences that have brought our particular group together, some of you have been divorced for years, others are going through this painful experience now, some women are widows with young children, or widows whose children are grown, and a few are women whose husbands are seriously ill. What we all have in common is that the life that we thought we'd have, the one that was in the storybook...did not happen.
There is one other very important thing that we have in common. That thing is reliance on the God of the Bible for strength; for life; for today and for tomorrow.
In upcoming blogs I hope to post some of the practical needs of the women in our group. This blog is new to me and I am still learning the process, so please be patient as I bump along.
Thank you - shelly

Thank you Shelly for this blog. It will be an additional way to support and keep in touch with each other. I appreciate the love God shows through you and Rita and all the other women in the group

Hi, this is your cousin Lynn, from NY. I think your blog is a good idea, especially the part about husbands being seriously ill. I do not know if you dad told you, but my husband Bill has ben suffering with Parkinson's for over 15 years. He has the disease however we both are suffering with the everyday living with it.

I am a Commissioned Elder Lay Preacher with the Presbyterian Church and have found it amazing, and wonderful how God gives us the tools, strength and love to do his work.

If you want to get in touch with me have your dad give you my e-mail.

PS Bill has a blog on nature and stories of his youth. it is (thewigeon@blogspot.com
